2008 Highlander Sumo Open

Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 10am to 4pm at the Gallup Flea Market

An event sanctioned by the United States Sumo Federation Featuring the top amateur sumo wrestlers from around the United States, plus karate & sumo demonstrations.

Very special appearances by the New Mexico Taiko Japanese drumming group and the Miyagi Ryu Okinawa dance group.

Spectators come early for a good spot.

This is a free event!!!

Competitors: $15.00 entry fee. All competitors must be current U.S.S.F. members* or must sign-up and pay U.S.S.F membership fee before the start of the tournament. Applications will be provided at the sign-in table. Weigh-ins at 10:00 a.m. Call for info.

Tournament format is round robin in men’s and women’s light, middle, and heavy weight divisions, with prizes for the top three in each division.**
