80th Anniversary of Topaz

Join online or in person.
Join Tessaku and JAMP as they commemorate the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Topaz confinement site. This Topaz descendant led event will take place from September 8-10.

Join Diana Tsuchida as she shares the story of how her grandfather was sent to Leupp from Topaz for being a troublemaker. Diana will moderate a discussion on the Leupp Isolation Center with historian, Art Hansen; filmmaker, Claudia Katayanagi; and anthropologist, Davina Two Bears.

The New Mexico Japanese-American Citizens League (NMJACL) is the state affiliate for the Japanese-American Citizens League (JACL). NMJACL traces its origins to 1947 with the formation of the Albuquerque Nisei Club, a social club for Japanese-American families living in New Mexico. NMJACL is also a member of the JACL Pacific Southwest District (PSW), which encompasses the Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Southern California region.
